The Proper Way To Store Table Cloths

Do you face problems of un-pressed, bad smelling tablecloths while going to use them for a sudden dinner party? If yes then the problem is the way you store the tablecloth, and not in your tablecloth. Today I will tell you certain tips to store your tablecloths properly.

Before storing – The first thing you need to make sure before storing is that you have cleaned your tablecloth properly and there are no food traces on it which can attract insects. Drying them perfectly is equality important as moisture is the main reason for fungus attacks.

Hanging – When it comes to storing then hanging is the best thing you can think of. For hanging fold your table cloth 3-4 times depending on its length and then put it on the hanger making only one fold. Don’t use wire for hanging as there is a danger of rust marks and sharp folds leading to weakening of the cloth fabric along the wire. Use plastic, wooden or padded hangers or fold a towel on your hanger to reduce the center crease. Keeping them hanging makes sure that air can pass through them which keep pests and foul odors away.

Storing Flat – If hanging is not at all an option for you then you also store them flat. Fold them and wrap them in acid-free tissue paper and store in a cool place. I mentioned acid free tissue papers as acid in normal tissue papers can turn your white tablecloths yellowish. Plastic bags, wooden shelves, cardboard boxes can also turn them yellow due to the flumes that are ejected by them. Using a bag can also be a good idea but try to use a bigger one so that you don’t have to make too many folds to fit your tablecloth in the bag.

Organize – Organizing is equality important as storing your tablecloth. I have seen many times that people tend to forget the color of the tablecloth they need and end up opening up all the tablecloths in the closet to get the one they need. Putting tags on the hanger with the tablecloth size on them is a very good idea which I discovered recently. When storing them flat, use ribbons to keep same size tablecloths in one bundle with their matching napkins, you will be glad you do this later on.

You can follow the above few tips to store tablecloths properly and to get them easily when needed. Another thing I would like you to do is that unfold and refold your tablecloths at least twice a year to reduce the stress of folding at the same place for a long time.
